We know you have been patient, which is why we are excited to announce the centre upgrade project for Ashfield Mall with a committed delivery date of 2025.
For over 40 years, Ashfield Mall has provided the local community with access to groceries, retail and a range of convenience based services. The centre has become a local necessity, and as part of our promise in providing spaces that are safe, positive and sustainable, we are investing in a centre upgrade to improve customer experience through the amenities, lifts, food court and back of house, as well as increasing natural lighting throughout the centre.
We are conscious of your need to continue accessing the centre, which is why we have launched a staged program for the works that will allow the centre to remain open throughout the project. We are also environmentally conscious, and have taken measures to improve Ashfield Mall’s carbon footprint. Investment in innovative technologies, such as upgrading equipment to optimise air-conditioning and lighting systems, installing eco-friendly chillers and exploring the use of solar shades in the car park, provides not only a more comfortable and pleasant shopping environment but aims to combat climate change through:
The works form part of our contribution to Corporate Social Responsibility and, of course, our commitment to our customers. Progress updates will be provided through our website and social streams.
The works will necessitate the temporary closure or relocation of multiple retailers. We have already commenced communication with these retailers and will update the community via email, signage, and social media as required. We have also encouraged our retailers to develop a communication strategy to update their customers and ensure the process is as seamless as possible.
The works will largely occur within the existing footprint of the Centre with the majority of stores remaining open. If any stores need to close temporarily due to the Centre upgrade works, this will be communicated well in advanced to both customers and retailers.
The works will necessitate the temporary closure or relocation of multiple retailers. We have already commenced communication with these retailers and will update the community via email, signage, and social media as required. We have also encouraged our retailers to develop a communication strategy to update their customers and ensure the process is as seamless as possible.
On completion, the works will deliver new amenities, two new lifts, a new escalator at the forecourt entry, an upgraded food court and new voids both east and west on levels 3 & 4 with 2 skylights on level 5 providing an abundance of natural light throughout the mall significantly improving the ambience of the centre. There are also substantial upgrades to base building services and back-of-house facilities.
Whilst there will be minor enhancement works in the car park from time to time, the majority of the car park will not be affected.
The works are essentially asset enhancement and updating end of life service. These do not include the creation of additional retail spaces. However, there will be an improved retail mix with a number of exciting new retailers joining the Centre mix.
Our Principal Contractor is extremely experienced in carrying out this type of work in the retail environment with the majority of works being undertaking outside of Centre trading hours. We will actively communicate the upcoming works program via various channels including face to face with our retailers, social media, the Centre website, electronic mail, in Centre signage and information booth.
The hours of works will comply with the Inner West Council planning division approval conditions.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 6pm
Saturday: 8am-1pm
Sunday or Public Holiday (if required) will be subject to Authority Approval.
A Noise Management Plan will be in place to ensure any planned noisy work complies with noise regulations.
The internal mall and tenancy work will be completed outside of normal hours (8.00pm – 6.00am). Due to the majority of retailers operating within these time frames all works within the mall area will be completed behind a barricade system to ensure delineation is provided between the construction and public areas.
Please submit any questions, feedback, or concerns to Centre Management Office, located on Level 3. You could also get in touch by phone: 02 9799 8488. Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
